YOUTHMAN
Youthman has played his way through the underground scenes of Europe and Asia, filling up the biggest clubs with his bass-heavy music.
Renowned for his ability to fluidly mix and match between Baltimore, Bassline, UK Funky, Dubstep and Soul, his DJ sets maintain the essential: a booming sub bass and a critical beat to move the listener.
Not just a well-known DJ, from the early 90s Youthman forged a reputation as the DrumnBass MC in France. He performed on stage with Asian Dub Foundation from the age of 15, and then went on to sign on major UK record labels with his group “Audio Unit”. But since this time, he's also been the impulse and originator of the “Central Massive”-a DJ/Producer collective, releasing on his own label and rivalling his DJ sets with those of international fame.
Youthman’s music has been supported and playlisted by many international DJ’s such: as DJ Hype(True Playaz Rec/UK)on his Kiss FM show, L Double on BBC 1-XTRA, Fabio and DJ Bailey on BBC 1-XTRA, the European reference for electronic music. In January this year, Youthman opened for Laurent Garnier’s live tour and in July he opened for the street party of the World Wide Festival.
Since the release of his latest solo album “Travel Pack” (2009), Youthman has received repeated acclaim from respected DJs and producers including Laurent Garnier, Benji B and also Gilles Peterson via BBC Radio. Gilles Peterson was such a fan of Youthman’s collaboration with LUCE on the soul track “Brother Don’t Cry”, he declared the song, “Track of the Year” and signed it immediately to his record label. The tune was released again on “Brownswood Bubblers #5” in May 2010.
Youthman is based in Paris, France.
